why you need special event coverage…
For various events, coverage needs may vary, but event liability insurance is a common necessity, often mandated by venues. It provides protection for liability issues, like property damage or personal injury caused by you or a guest during the event. This includes scenarios such as a guest tripping and causing damage, with coverage extending to medical bills and replacement costs. Note that it may cover venue-owned equipment but typically excludes third-party rentals.
special events that qualify for coverage
In general, your policy may cover routine events, although exclusions can vary. Certain events, such as bachelorette and bachelor parties, are typically excluded. Here are some examples of events that may be covered under a special event policy:
Wedding
Team-Building Events
Retreats
Anniversary Party
Birthday Party
Retirement Party
Graduation Party
Family Reunion
Baby Shower
When to get insurance for your event…
Typically, it's advisable to secure special event coverage when you start making deposits and payments for vendors, services, and event-related expenses. Additionally, consider the duration of your event—whether it's just a few hours or several days—as it can influence your coverage requirements and the timing of obtaining it. Keep this in mind as you initiate your planning.
